How this is calculated

This is a factual count, not a prediction. We took 74 official JEE Main question papers spanning 2016–2026 (6,077 questions in total), tagged each question by its chapter, merged naming variants (e.g. “Co-ordinate Geometry” and “Coordinate Geometry”), and computed each chapter’s share of questions per subject. Because a single exact percentage would imply false precision, we display every figure as a ±5% range. The data is refreshed whenever new papers are added.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the most important chapter for JEE Main Maths?

Based on 2016–2026 PYQs, Co-ordinate Geometry is the single highest-weightage Maths chapter, contributing roughly 13–15% of all Maths questions. In Physics it is Electrostatics (~6–8%) and in Chemistry Coordination Compounds (~6–7%).

How is this chapter weightage calculated?

We counted every question in 74 official JEE Main papers (6,077 questions, 2016–2026), tagged each by chapter, merged spelling variants, and expressed each chapter as its share of questions. All figures are shown as ±5% ranges — strong indicators, not exact guarantees.

Are the important chapters the same every year?

The high-weightage chapters are remarkably stable year to year, which is why 10-year PYQ data is a reliable guide. Exact per-paper counts vary slightly, so we present ranges rather than fixed numbers.

How many chapters should I focus on?

In Maths the top few chapters alone account for a large share of the paper, so prioritising them has high ROI. Chemistry is flatter (marks spread across more chapters), so it rewards broader coverage. Use the ranked list above to sequence your revision.
