JEE Main marking scheme
Each of the 75 questions (25 per subject) is worth +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong answer; unattempted questions score 0, for a maximum of 300 marks. Since 2023 the numerical-value questions carry negative marking too. This calculator uses that exact scheme, so the result is your true raw score — not an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How are JEE Main marks calculated?
JEE Main awards +4 for every correct answer and −1 for every wrong answer; unattempted questions score 0. There are 75 questions (25 each in Physics, Chemistry and Maths) for a maximum of 300 marks.
Is there negative marking for numerical (integer) questions?
Yes. Since 2023, the numerical-value questions in Section B also carry −1 for a wrong answer, the same as the MCQs. So this calculator applies −1 uniformly.
Is this score my rank or percentile?
No — this is only your raw marks out of 300, computed exactly. Rank and percentile depend on the whole cohort and can only be known after NTA publishes results, so we do not estimate them here.
