Class 11 to JEE 2028: A Month-by-Month Study Calendar
A two-year goal is hard to act on. A month is easy. This JEE 2028 month-by-month study calendar takes a Class 11 student from October 2026 all the way to JEE Main 2028 and JEE Advanced 2028 — which Physics, Chemistry and Maths chapters to cover each month, when to take chapter mocks, when revision cycles happen, how school and board exams fit in, and when full mocks and weekly live mocks take over.
The chapters follow the usual NCERT order, mapped to the units of the latest official JEE Main syllabus. Your school or coaching may teach in a slightly different sequence; that is fine. Keep the rhythm, swap the chapter names. And if you are taking JEE 2027 instead, there is a compressed calendar for you further down.
One reminder: NTA has not announced JEE Main 2028 dates. The exam months below are based on how recent cycles ran (January and April sessions, JEE Advanced in May). Re-check them against the official bulletin when it is released — our JEE Main 2028: what may change page tracks this.
Key takeaways
- Finish Class 11 chapters by March 2027 and Class 12 chapters by November 2027.
- Every chapter gets practice the same week and a chapter mock test within days of finishing.
- Three planned revision cycles: summer 2027, December 2027, and between the two Main sessions.
- Weekly live mocks from Class 12; full mocks every week from November 2027.
- School and board exam months are built in — don't plan as if they don't exist.
The rhythm inside every month
Before the chapter lists, here is what a normal month looks like. The calendar only works if this loop runs underneath it.
- Weeks 1–3: learn and practise. Study each new chapter in school or class, and solve chapter-wise questions the same week.
- Within days of finishing a chapter: its chapter mock test. Timed, then analysed — wrong answers go into your mistakes notebook.
- Week 4: revision. One subject revision test mixing everything done so far, plus a fix-up session for the weakest chapter of the month.
- From Class 12: one weekly live mock, to see where you stand among students across India.
That is it. The calendar below just tells you which chapters move through that loop each month.
October 2026: the catch-up check
By October, most schools have taught the opening Class 11 chapters. Before moving on, make sure these are genuinely done — practised and tested:
| Physics | Chemistry | Maths |
|---|---|---|
| Units and Measurements; Motion in a Straight Line; Motion in a Plane; Laws of Motion | Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry (mole concept); Structure of Atom; Classification of Elements and Periodicity | Sets; Relations and Functions; Trigonometric Functions |
If any are shaky, take their chapter mocks this month. A low score now is cheap; the same gap discovered in December 2027 is not. For each one that needs work, add it to your weekend slot — one old chapter per subject per fortnight is plenty.
Class 11, second half: November 2026 → March 2027
| Month | Physics | Chemistry | Maths | Tests & milestones |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nov 2026 | Work, Energy and Power; System of Particles and Rotational Motion (start) | Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure | Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations | Chapter mocks for each; first Physics revision test (Mechanics so far) |
| Dec 2026 | Rotational Motion (finish); Gravitation | Thermodynamics | Permutations and Combinations; Binomial Theorem | School half-yearly / mid-term exams in many schools — lighter JEE weeks |
| Jan 2027 | Mechanical Properties of Solids; Mechanical Properties of Fluids; Thermal Properties of Matter | Equilibrium | Sequences and Series; Straight Lines | Chemistry revision test (Physical Chemistry so far) |
| Feb 2027 | Thermodynamics; Kinetic Theory; Oscillations | Redox Reactions; Organic Chemistry — Some Basic Principles and Techniques | Conic Sections; Introduction to 3D Geometry | Maths revision test (Algebra + Coordinate Geometry) |
| Mar 2027 | Waves | Hydrocarbons | Limits and Derivatives; Statistics; Probability | Class 11 annual exams; all Class 11 chapter mocks complete |
Organic Chemistry basics (GOC) deserve extra time in February. Hydrocarbons and almost all of Class 12 Organic build on it, and it has been one of the higher-weightage Chemistry units in recent papers. Rotational Motion and Thermodynamics are the two Class 11 Physics chapters most students need a second pass on — plan for it in summer.
Summer 2027: April → June (revision cycle 1 + Class 12 begins)
This is the most valuable window in the whole calendar. Class 12 begins in April in most schools, so you run two tracks: first full revision of Class 11, and the first Class 12 chapters.
| Month | Class 11 revision | New Class 12 chapters | Tests & milestones |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apr 2027 | Physics: Mechanics, then Heat and Thermodynamics, then Oscillations and Waves | Electric Charges and Fields; Solutions; Relations and Functions + Inverse Trigonometric Functions | Full Class 11 Physics revision test |
| May 2027 | Chemistry: Physical, then Organic basics and Hydrocarbons, then Inorganic | Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance; Electrochemistry; Matrices; Determinants | Full Class 11 Chemistry revision test |
| Jun 2027 | Maths: Algebra, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus basics | Current Electricity; Chemical Kinetics; Continuity and Differentiability | Full Class 11 Maths revision test; first live mock |
Any Class 11 chapter whose chapter-mock score was low gets a proper second pass here — new notes, fresh problems, then the chapter mock again. If you have time left in June, start solving Class 11 previous-year questions chapter by chapter; you can solve JEE Main PYQs online.
Class 12: July → November 2027
| Month | Physics | Chemistry | Maths | Tests & milestones |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jul 2027 | Moving Charges and Magnetism; Magnetism and Matter | The d- and f-Block Elements | Application of Derivatives | Weekly live mock begins in earnest; Class 11 mixed revision test every 2–3 weeks |
| Aug 2027 | Electromagnetic Induction; Alternating Current | Coordination Compounds | Integrals | Chapter mocks; Electricity & Magnetism revision test |
| Sep 2027 | Electromagnetic Waves; Ray Optics and Optical Instruments | Haloalkanes and Haloarenes; Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers | Application of Integrals; Differential Equations | School half-yearly exams — lighter JEE weeks, keep the live mock |
| Oct 2027 | Wave Optics; Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter; Atoms | Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids; Amines | Vector Algebra; Three Dimensional Geometry | Calculus revision test; first full-length mock |
| Nov 2027 | Nuclei; Semiconductor Electronics; experimental skills | Biomolecules; p-Block Elements (as per the JEE syllabus); principles of practical chemistry | Probability (Class 12) | Syllabus complete; full mock every week from now |
Integral Calculus and Coordinate Geometry together drew more than a quarter of the Maths questions across the 2026 shift papers we analysed, and Optics was the single largest Physics unit. Give August (Integrals) and September–October (Optics) the time they deserve. The chapter weightage tool has the full unit-by-unit counts.

Join a Live Mock →December 2027 → June 2028: revision, exams and Advanced
| Month | Focus | Tests |
|---|---|---|
| Dec 2027 | Revision cycle 2: both years, subject by subject; formula and reaction sheets; pre-boards in many schools | 1–2 full mocks a week + live mock; previous-year papers under exam conditions |
| Jan 2028 | JEE Main Session 1 (expected); light revision only in the final week | Full mocks at your exam-shift time until a few days before |
| Feb – Mar 2028 | Board exams (CBSE's 2026 Class 12 exams ran 17 February to early April); revision cycle 3 using your Session 1 analysis | One timed mixed test a week to keep speed |
| Apr 2028 | JEE Main Session 2 (expected); target the chapters Session 1 exposed | Full mocks + live mocks until the exam |
| May – Jun 2028 | JEE Advanced for those who qualify (2026's was on 17 May); then counselling | Advanced-style multi-concept practice and two-paper mock days |
If you are aiming for IITs, add a few harder, multi-concept problems per chapter from Class 12 onwards, rather than switching style abruptly in April. JEE Advanced has two compulsory three-hour papers on the same day, so a few full "two-paper days" before it are worth doing. The JEE Main vs Advanced guide explains the difference in depth.
A sample week inside the calendar
| Day | Class 11 (2026–27) | Class 12 (2027–28) |
|---|---|---|
| Mon – Fri | 2–3 hours after school: practise the chapter taught that day, rotating subjects | 3–4 hours: current chapter practice + 30–45 minutes of Class 11 revision |
| Saturday | Chapter mock test(s) for chapters finished this week, then analysis | Chapter mocks + a subject revision test |
| Sunday | Catch-up, one old chapter, light rest | Weekly live mock, its analysis, then rest |
These are templates, not targets. A shorter, consistent routine beats a heroic plan that collapses in week three. For more detailed daily timetables, see the study plan & timetable.
When each kind of test starts — and why
| Test type | Starts | Why then |
|---|---|---|
| Chapter-wise practice | Now, for every chapter | Concepts are freshest the week they are taught |
| Chapter mock test | Within days of finishing each chapter | Shows whether you can solve under time, not just follow the class |
| Subject revision test | Every 3–5 chapters, from November 2026 | Stops older chapters fading; mixes topics the way the real paper does |
| Weekly live mock | Occasionally from mid-2027; every week from July 2027 | Once enough syllabus is covered, ranking against others becomes meaningful |
| Full-length mock | October 2027; weekly from November 2027 | Builds three-hour stamina, subject order and time-splitting |
The order matters. A full mock taken in Class 11 mostly measures what you haven't studied yet, which is discouraging and not very useful. A chapter mock taken the week you finish a chapter measures exactly what you need to know. Our guide on how to analyse a mock test covers what to do with each result.
Where school and board exams fit
A JEE calendar that ignores school exams fails in the first December. Most schools hold a mid-term or half-yearly exam around September–December and annual exams in February–March in Class 11; Class 12 adds practicals, pre-boards and the board exams themselves. In those weeks, don't try to run the full JEE plan. Keep two things going — daily practice of the current chapter, and the weekly live mock or chapter mock — and let the rest wait.
Board preparation is not wasted time. Physics, Chemistry and Maths boards test the same NCERT chapters, and admission to IITs and NITs needs 75% aggregate in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST, and for PwD at IITs) or a place in the top 20 percentile of your board, under recent rules. Writing clear NCERT-level answers is the main extra skill boards need.
Taking JEE 2027? Your compressed calendar
If you are in Class 12 or a dropper, NTA's tentative calendar puts JEE Main 2027 Session 1 on 22–24 and 28–30 January 2027. That gives you a compressed version of the same loop:
| Month | Focus |
|---|---|
| Oct 2026 | Finish remaining Class 12 chapters; a chapter mock for every chapter you call "done" |
| Nov 2026 | Full revision of Class 11, subject by subject, with revision tests; weekly live mock |
| Dec 2026 | Full revision of Class 12; 1–2 full mocks a week; previous-year papers |
| Jan 2027 | Session 1 (tentative dates); light revision in the final days |
| Feb – Apr 2027 | Boards, then fixes from Session 1 analysis; Session 2; JEE Advanced for those who qualify |
If you decide on a second attempt in 2028, you don't restart this calendar from October. You start from your own chapter data — the chapters that cost you marks in 2027 — and run them through the loop again, then join the December 2027 revision cycle with everyone else. Read dropper or fresh attempt before deciding.
One plan for your 2027 and 2028 attempts
JEEnify Plus is ₹499 instead of ₹3,999 with code PLUS2028. Plan valid till 30 June 2028, so the same plan covers a JEE 2027 attempt and a JEE 2028 attempt. Plus includes chapter-wise practice and mock tests, full-syllabus revision practice, full mocks, weekly live mocks, solved PYQs and analytics.
How to adjust when you fall behind
- Behind by a week or two: normal. Use the next week-4 revision slot to catch up.
- Behind by a month: skip nothing, but shorten — practise the core question types, take the chapter mock, and move on. Mark the chapter for the next revision cycle.
- School is ahead of the calendar: follow school; the calendar is a guide, not a rule.
- A chapter mock went badly: that is the system working. Redo the weakest question types, retake it within two weeks.
- Feeling exhausted: take two genuinely light days. A rested week beats a burnt-out month.
End-of-term checklist
- Every chapter finished this term has a chapter mock score.
- Each subject has had at least one full revision test this term.
- You know your three weakest chapters and they are in next term's plan.
- Your mistakes notebook is up to date and you have re-read it once.
- School marks are on track for the Class 12 admission criterion (75% aggregate, or top 20 percentile of your board).
For the phase-level view of the same plan, read the JEE 2028 preparation roadmap. Parents can follow along with the parent's guide to JEE 2027 and 2028.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which chapters should a Class 11 student finish by December for JEE 2028?+
Following the usual NCERT order: in Physics, up to Rotational Motion and Gravitation; in Chemistry, up to Chemical Bonding and Thermodynamics; in Maths, up to Complex Numbers, Permutations and Combinations and Binomial Theorem. Follow your school if its order differs.
When should I finish the JEE syllabus for 2028?+
A practical target is all Class 11 chapters by March 2027 and all Class 12 chapters by November 2027. That leaves December 2027 for a full revision and weekly full mocks before the expected January 2028 session.
When should I start taking mock tests for JEE?+
Start chapter-wise mock tests immediately — within days of finishing each chapter. Add subject revision tests every few chapters, weekly live mocks from Class 12, and full-length mocks from around October–November 2027.
How many revision cycles do I need before JEE Main 2028?+
Plan at least three: a full Class 11 revision in April–June 2027, a revision of both years in December 2027, and a targeted cycle between the two JEE Main sessions using your Session 1 analysis.
How do I balance board exams with this calendar?+
In school exam weeks, keep only daily practice of the current chapter and one weekly test. Board Physics, Chemistry and Maths use the same NCERT chapters, and IIT/NIT admission needs 75% aggregate in Class 12 or a top-20-percentile board result under recent rules.
I am behind the calendar. What should I do?+
Don’t skip chapters. Shorten them: practise the core question types, take the chapter mock and move on, marking the chapter for the next revision cycle. Add one older chapter per subject per fortnight to your weekend slot until you catch up.
Is there a month-by-month plan for JEE 2027?+
Yes, in compressed form: finish remaining Class 12 chapters with chapter mocks in October, revise Class 11 in November, revise Class 12 with weekly full mocks in December, then Session 1 (tentatively late January 2027), boards and Session 2.
