JEE Main 2027 Syllabus PDF Download: All 54 Units, Deleted Topics and 2026 Weightage

Every October the same search spikes: “JEE Main 2027 syllabus PDF.” Most pages that come up give you a list of chapter names and a download button. That’s fine, but it doesn’t answer the two questions you actually have: has anything changed, and which of these 54 units deserve most of your time?

This page answers both. The unit list below is NTA’s own, and next to every unit you’ll see how many questions it really produced in the 19 shifts of JEE Main 2026. We solved and catalogued every one of those 1,411 questions, so these aren’t estimates borrowed from a coaching chart.

Status (8 October 2026): NTA has not yet published a separate JEE Main 2027 syllabus. It usually arrives with the Information Bulletin in late October or early November. The syllabus has been the same 54 units since NTA’s 2024 revision, so the 2026 syllabus is the one to study from. Download it below; the 2027 PDF will appear here the day NTA publishes it.

Has the JEE Main 2027 syllabus been released?

Not yet. NTA doesn’t publish the syllabus on its own date; it goes out as part of the Information Bulletin, the same day registration opens for Session 1. Looking at the last two cycles gives a good idea of when to expect it:

Two cycles without a change is a strong signal, but it isn’t a promise. If NTA trims or adds anything for 2027 it will be in that bulletin, and the deleted-syllabus tracker is where we’ll log it first.

JEE Main syllabus PDF download (2026 and 2027)

The JEE Main 2026 syllabus PDF above is NTA’s official file, unedited: all 17 pages, covering Paper 1 and both Paper 2 variants. Since nothing has changed since 2024, it’s the right document to study from today. The JEE Main 2027 syllabus PDF isn’t out yet; as soon as NTA releases it, the “Coming soon” card turns into a download.

Prefer to get it from the source? Be careful with third-party mirrors: they’re often a year out of date, and a few still carry chapters that were removed in 2024. To download it from NTA:

1. Go to jeemain.nta.nic.in, NTA’s official JEE Main site.
2. Open the Information Bulletin for the year (it’s linked on the home page once released).
3. The syllabus is an appendix in the bulletin. NTA usually also posts it as a separate “Syllabus” PDF in the same notices section.
4. Check the title page says the right year. Until the 2027 PDF is up, the 2026 PDF is the current one.

One file covers Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning). If you’re taking the B.E./B.Tech paper, only the Paper 1 section matters.

JEE Main 2027 syllabus at a glance

Paper 1 has 75 questions, 25 per subject: 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical in each, all compulsory. (The exam pattern guide covers marking and timing.) Here’s how the 54 units split up, and which unit carried the most questions in 2026:

JEE Main 2027 Physics syllabus (20 units)

Physics is the subject where the unit list hides the most. “Properties of Solids and Liquids” sounds like one chapter; it’s actually three NCERT chapters, elasticity, fluids and thermal properties, and it was the second-heaviest Physics unit in 2026. JEE Main 2027 Chemistry syllabus (20 units)

Chemistry is the flattest subject: no unit gave more than 1.7 questions a paper in 2026, so there’s no shortcut through it. Skipping any one unit costs you about one question, every shift. JEE Main 2027 Mathematics syllabus (14 units)

Maths has the fewest units and the most lopsided paper. Co-ordinate Geometry and Integral Calculus together gave about 6.7 of the 25 Maths questions in a typical 2026 shift. The unit-by-unit official text is in the complete JEE Main Maths syllabus.

What the 2026 papers actually asked

A syllabus tells you what can come. Past papers tell you what does. Across all 19 shifts of 2026, three patterns stand out:

• Maths is front-loaded. Co-ordinate Geometry alone averaged 3.9 questions a paper, about one in six Maths questions. Nothing in Physics or Chemistry comes close.
• In Physics, Optics leads by a distance (3.0 a paper), with Properties of Solids and Liquids next (2.3). Gravitation, a chapter students love, averaged only 0.5.
• Chemistry rewards coverage, not favourites. Almost every unit sat between 1 and 1.7 questions a paper.

What is not in the JEE Main syllabus

This is where most confusion comes from, because NCERT still teaches chapters that JEE Main dropped. The short version:

• Physics: Communication Systems is out, and so are potentiometer work, radioactivity, the Doppler effect and transistors.
• Chemistry: States of Matter, Solid State, Surface Chemistry, Hydrogen, s-Block, Environmental Chemistry, Metallurgy (isolation of elements), Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday Life are out.
• Mathematics: Mathematical Induction, Mathematical Reasoning, Linear Inequalities and Linear Programming are not tested.

One myth worth killing: alcohols, phenols and ethers are still in. They sit inside “Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen”. Syllabus for B.Arch (Paper 2A) and B.Planning (Paper 2B)

Both papers share the same 14-unit Mathematics syllabus as Paper 1. The rest differs:

How to actually use the syllabus

Students who score well don’t read the syllabus once in June and forget it. They use it as a checklist they come back to every fortnight. Here’s the routine we suggest:

1. Turn each unit into a row. Mark it “not started”, “theory done”, or “practised”. Practised means you’ve solved JEE-level questions on it, not just read the chapter.
2. Weigh, then order. Start with the heavy units (the numbers above) in each subject, but don’t leave any unit untouched. In Chemistry especially, there are no throwaway chapters.
3. Read the official text for the units you finish. A minute with NTA’s wording catches topics that NCERT spends a page on but JEE never asks, and the reverse.
4. Close each unit with past questions. The JEE Main previous year papers show how each topic is actually tested, and the chapter formula sheets keep the revision tight.
