Exam pattern & marking scheme
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) has 75 questions and 300 marks — 25 each in Physics, Chemistry and Maths (20 MCQs + 5 numericals), with +4 / −1 marking on both sections. Full breakdown in our JEE Main 2027 exam pattern guide. Already attempted a paper? Get your exact score with the JEE Main marks calculator.
Syllabus (NCERT-based)
The syllabus is built almost entirely on NCERT Class 11 and 12, with both years weighted roughly equally. Read the full subject-wise breakdown in our JEE Main 2027 syllabus guide, and see which chapters actually carry the most marks with the important-chapters (PYQ weightage) tool.
Eligibility, in brief
There is no age limit to appear; you need to have passed (or be appearing in) Class 12 with Physics, Maths and one of Chemistry/Biology/Technical. For NIT/IIIT/GFTI admission via JoSAA you also need 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST) or be in the top 20 percentile of your board. Confirm the fine print in NTA’s bulletin.

Practice — PYQs & mock tests
Practice is where marks are made. Solve the full JEE Main previous-year papers (2016–2026) online with solutions — why PYQs beat theory — and take full-length free mock tests in the real CBT interface. Most importantly, learn how to analyse a mock the right way — that’s what actually moves your score.
Results, percentile & rank
JEE Main rank is based on your percentile (a normalised score), not raw marks. Understand how marks, percentile and rank relate in our marks, percentile & rank guide, and after each session read the exam analysis & expected cutoff. To see your raw score instantly, use the marks calculator.
Cutoffs & admissions
Once results are out, JoSAA counselling allocates seats by rank and category. We’re building a detailed, year-wise college-cutoffs section (which rank got which NIT/IIIT branch) — check back soon. In the meantime, bookmark this guide; it’s the map for your whole JEE Main 2027 journey.
